Welcome to AKOLOB

Ed July 28th, 2008

If you’re new here:

Hi, my name is Ed and this is my website.  Not so long ago I had an epiphany of sorts. The realisation I came to was that some of the limitations on career and life that existed in my parents generation, no longer applied to me. I have ambitions and desires for my life that include, not only the design that I trained for, but also writing/journalism, photography, pshychology and, less financially motivated, world travel. What limits me from doing all these things? As far as I can tell, it all comes down to my own mental limitations.

With that in mind I, created this site initially to catalogue some of my travel escapades and to share with you some of my insights about the world in which we live. It has now morphed into a place for me to develop my own literary voice and style, which at the present appears to be some baffling mix of humour and ill advised action Some of this stuff is pretty old but… whatever.

  • Make sure you check out the blog as it’s where all the action happens.
  • If you struggle with words and things of that nature, there are some photos that are worth checking out.

If you’re an old hand:

Well, thanks for not being frightened off. As you have probably noticed I have made some pretty dramatic changes to the site. It reflects an effort on my part to take the site and my writing more seriously. Which means I will try to write about things other than me getting hammered all the time. Some of the time at least.

  • If you haven’t already you may also want to sign up to my email updates.

Also… I like beer.

Beaches in the Sun? No way. This is my ‘Happy Place.’

Updates

I’ve actually done something new on the site. It’s been… 6 months. Holly shit. Anyway, its about the job I’m doing now. Read it here and you’ll understand why I have done no work on the site.

Big changes. Not only have I updated to the latest version of WordPress but I also installed a new theme. That plus a healthy amount of aesthetic customisation gives you what you now see. I also added a bunch of plugins such as the little ShareThis button that sits at the bottom of each page. I’ve also modified a lot of the introduction texts, etc to make the whole site a little more respectable. All an all, seems to have worked out great.

Check it out. I’ve performed an impromptu revamp of the header and navigation. It’s part of an effort on my part to be more considerate and serious about the content and design of this site. This approach should extend to posts in the near future also. That’s right, I’m being professional (or at least trying).
- 13.03.09

Finally completed my The Homerton Station Project post. I apologise for the massive production duration but I have been pouring my time and energy into the job hunt and a large redesign of my portfolio. If you’re up to date with the economy here in London, you will know it has stopped working. Anyway, check out the post an I’ll try follow up with… I dunno, something.
- 09.01.09

I re-wrote the introduction message for several reasons. One because the previous entry was rushed, scattered and a little immature. Also because I am adding this blog to my C.V. so it was probably not the best introduction to mine abilities to be communicationing ;)

New post on our travels from Amsterdam, through Belgium and into our final stop, London. You will be pleased to hear that they also have pictures. Take a look here.
- 23.11.08

New post entered about our time in Berlin.
- 06.11.08

I have finally inserted a proper map of our travels so far. It may be worth a look if you’re into maps and things.

I have also started to add in some content into the other areas of the site. For example check out the pics section.
